Several of Georgia's most productive high school football players are closing in on milestones with two weeks remaining in the regular season, and a few could reach them as soon as Friday night.

The state's rushing leader is Calhoun County running back Quinton Edwards, who has piled up 1,820 yards. Edwards needs 180 yards in his final game, Friday against Baconton Charter, to reach 2,000. Calhoun County is a Class A school playing a nonregion schedule, so the team's season ends this week, leaving Edwards with just one more opportunity.

On the passing side, Trinity Christian's Ashton Claire leads the state with 2,828 yards. Claire, who also tops the Class 4A-2A Private classification, has two regular-season games remaining to reach 3,000, beginning Friday against Utopian Academy.

Also within striking distance of 3,000 passing yards is CJ Cypher of Carrollton. The Miami-committed sophomore quarterback has thrown for 2,724 yards, the most among Class 7A passers.

Three receivers have surpassed 900 yards and could reach 1,000 before the regular season ends. Kamari Frazier of Lithia Springs leads the group with 947 and paces Class 5A, followed by Kell's Brock Burrus with 944, the Class 6A leader, and Collins Price of Lassiter with 930.

Behind Edwards, the other classification rushing leaders are Jae'Veon Williams of Pierce County in Class 3A with 1,742 yards, Cooper Shumate of Monroe Area in Class 4A with 1,692, Tyrese Dorsey of Shiloh in Class 6A with 1,646, Peyton Davis of LaGrange in Class 5A with 1,438, Zyion Love of Bleckley County in Class 2A with 1,188, Zach Belyeu of North Cobb in Class 7A with 1,176 and Andrew Beard of Prince Avenue Christian in Class 4A-2A Private with 1,086.

Among other passing classification leaders, Baldwin's Kamden Patterson has 2,565 yards in Class 4A, JR Harris of Central (Carrollton) has 2,377 in Class 5A, Boston Pierce of Kell has 2,350 in Class 6A, Tucker Parson of Hart County has 2,231 in Class 3A, Brody Fleming of Bleckley County has 1,917 in Class 2A and Leland Holder of Taylor County has 1,811 in Class A.

In receiving, other classification leaders include Qua Pinkard of Taylor County in Class A with 875 yards, Bryce Bell of Monroe Area in Class 4A at 871, Kaiden Harbin of Stephens County in Class 3A with 833, Aiden Opore of Walton in Class 7A at 794, Aidan Randolph of Trinity Christian in Class 4A-2A Private with 782 and Jerimiah Burns of Dodge County in Class 2A at 742.

Valdosta players also appear on the statewide lists. Deron Foster has rushed for 1,004 yards, while Marquis Fennell has 803 rushing yards and 708 receiving yards. Quarterback Tripp Perry has thrown for 1,336 yards, and Jamarian Mingo has 590 receiving yards.

The regular season wraps up in two weeks, giving the state's statistical leaders one or two more games to add to their totals.
